Blog Two
This month I have dived head first in creating an ecosystem, working with my classmates on our projects. This is just the beginning of a great learning experience. I planted basil seed in the ecosystem on February 4th. I am excited to say that even I don’t have a green thumb I have one seed sprout. As I go through this learning experience I am trying to figure out how much water I should use and how often I should water my plant. As I work on this ecosystem I wonder if it makes a difference using distilled water vs tap water. Does it make a difference in what soil I use. The ecosystem is a great project to have students complete in a classroom setting. This project has helped me think of questions I could ask students. It is a great hands-on experience for the students and engages them to critically think of why and how questions. This has been a great experience and I hope I have the opportunity to include this in my future classroom. I can connect this to the NCTCS three teachers know the content they teach. After having this learning experience I can pass this information down to my students and help them learn just as I did. I am excited to get this semester clinical started. This past week I contacted my clinical educators and we are working on setting updates I can come in and observe. Getting out into a classroom is one of my favorite part of this experience. I want to continue to stay on top of my course work and not fall behind. This week I want to start on my unit plan and stay on track and not fall behind on it. This past month we have worked together as a class on our science project and starting our water cycle project. The tweets I found this week are I think are really neat. The first tweet is about toads riding on the back of a python. It’s amazing that the python didn’t eat the toads since the toads carry a deadly toxin. I learned from this tweet that pythons are not able to eat this type of toads. To me this is like a phenomenon, it’s something you don’t see every day. The second tweet the students are working hands-on trying to find out what caused the ancient channels on Mars. The students then had to explain their ideas and arguments based on science. The last tweet the students used skittles to model erosion, weather, and deposition.

I want to say that I have loved working with you in the group projects. I also talked about my ecosystem in my blog, I think that this has been my biggest take away in the past few weeks. I think that our group projects have came along nicely. I am also going to try and start working on my unit and trying to connect everything there. We can make it through the rest of the semester with each other.
ReplyDeleteGreat Blog Elizabeth. I also question myself about the ecosystem. I hope I am giving it enough water. I do see it growing though so I guess that is a good sign. I love working in a group with everyone. We are doing a great job in communicating and getting things done. I as well have been in touch with my clinical instructor. I am excited about my location and whom I am working with. This semester is flying by.
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteI am glad to see you have embraced the learning experiences of this semester! YEAH! Keep on embracing the learning experiences and strive to relate the learning experience so you can relate them to your future classroom as much as you can. In future posts, be sure I can see the photos you have linked to your blog. (The pictures are not showing in this blog).
